Overview

This test case is a blunted cone at Mach 6 with angle of attack 10°. It’s part of the hypersonic Scout forebody experiments documented in NASA Technical Note D-1790 (Holloway & Dunavant, 1963).
In this tutorial series for Configuration I, you’ll learn how to:
- perform a basic inviscid hypersonic simulation (setup, shock capture, Cp comparison),
- perform a moderate-fidelity viscous simulation using an integral boundary-layer model (wall treatment, heating trends),
- perform a focused grid-convergence study (stagnation region, corner peak, shock stand-off).
